Michael Henson

Mr. Henson has founded or served as CEO and Chairman/Board Member for sixteen emerging healthcare (medical device or biotechnology) firms. Nine of these were privately held firms and were acquired by multinational companies, while seven have advanced through the initial public offering (IPO) stage. Several of these companies remain closely held private firms. In total, these firms have received financial investments of approximately $1 billion and have employed in excess of 1,000 people.


Franklin Brown

Mr. Brown has more than thirty years of executive level multinational experience and has served on the board of several domestic and international companies. Mr. Brown currently serves on the board of directors of five medical device companies, was awarded 1991 Entrepreneur of the Year Award and in 2001 was awarded Director of the Year for his contribution in Corporate Governance.


Walter A. Cuevas, CEO

Ashton Hudson

Mr. Hudson is a Partner and General Counsel of Rock Creek Capital, a $150 million private equity investment fund headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of transactional matters, including structuring, negotiating and executing leveraged acquisitions and private equity financings. Ashton also has substantial experience advising boards of directors on corporate governance matters. In addition to his role as Rock Creeks General Counsel, Ashton is actively involved with evaluating and structuring each of the funds investments. He sits on the Board of Directors of TimberVest, LLC, Callixa Corporation and Cellport Systems, Inc. Prior to joining Rock Creek, Ashton practiced with the law firm Parker, Hudson, Rainer & Dobbs in Atlanta, Georgia. Ashton earned his B.S., cum laude, in business and accountancy, from Wake Forest University in 1994. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 1997 from the Wake Forest University School of Law, where he was a Cooke Foundation Scholar, Articles Editor of the Law Review, member of the Moot Court Board and Order of the Coif. Ashton resides in Jacksonville, Florida.


Paul A. Mieyal, Ph.D., CFA

Paul Mieyal is a Vice President of Wexford Capital LLC, an SEC registered investment advisor with over $5 billion of assets under management located in Greenwich, CT. Prior to that, he was Vice President in charge of healthcare investments for Wechsler & Co., Inc., a private investment firm and registered broker-dealer. Dr. Mieyal received his Ph.D. in pharmacology from New York Medical College, a B.A. in chemistry and psychology from Case Western Reserve University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Dr. Mieyal serves as a Director of Danube Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Epiphany Biosciences, Inc., GlobeImmune, Inc., Microbiogen Pty Ltd., and Tigris Pharmaceuticals, Inc.


Thomas Thaler, Ph.D.

Thomas Thaler graduated from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) in biochemistry and Business Administration, and holds a Ph.D. in life sciences. He has 15 years of experience in the biotech and medical technology industry holding senior management positions with Sulzer Medica, Schneider (Europe) and Boston Scientific. In April 2000 he joined Bank Julius Baer as a medical technology and healthcare services equity analyst and beginning of 2006 he joined HBM Partners as an Investment Advisor for Medical Technology.

Stephen L. Wilson

Mr. Wilson has been a senior executive in the medical device industry for almost twenty years. He is currently Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Devax, Inc., a privately-held company that has developed a novel drug-eluting stent system for the treatment of bifurcation lesions. Mr. Wilson was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sonic Innovations, Inc., a hearing aid company, from 1999 to 2006, and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Computer Motion, Inc., a medical robotics company, from 1997 to 1999, both of which became public companies during Mr. Wilson's tenure. Previously, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of St. Jude Medical, Inc., a diversified medical device company, from 1990 to 1997. He is a past director of Angeion Corporation. Mr. Wilson received a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut and is a Certified Public Accountant.
